Snow Devil!Posted by seventhray (Wayland, United States) on 2 February 2007 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. For those who don't know, this is a Snow Devil. There just like mini tornadoes. Ther are Dirt Devils and Snow Devils. Dirt Devils you see in places that have dry conditions with a lot of dust and dirt. We get Snow Devils more so than Dirt Devil because we only have the right conditions for the Devils to form in the winter. We live right on the edge of a woods with a lot of open field Which is perfect conditions for the wind to get whipping and spinning snow around. This is not the best photo of a Snow Devil but I thought I would post it anyways so you could see what I was talking about. I found they are very hard to photograph! But like the Ultimate Snow flake photo now I am also on a quest for the Ultimate Snow Devil photo. Will I ever get either photo? Maybe. It all depends on what Mother Nature decides to grace me with. If conditions arn't right I no gots! I recomend viewing this photo in Large format, then look in the middle of the snow plume and you will see the heart of the Snow Devil. It almost looks like a person standing there.
