Squeezen' throught a tough spot!Posted by seventhray (Wayland, United States) on 2 December 2006 in Animal & Insect. Anybody up for predicting the weather? The Wooly Worms (or Wooly Catipilar as I call them) coloring and thickness of coat is suppose to tell you what kind of weather to expect in your area! Hmmm! I was never very good at it but my husband said by looking at this wooly worm expect a mild short winter with some cold spells and warm spring. We'll see! :D

Lia from Atlanta, United StatesThis is a really neat picture! You can see the great detail of the worm and fuzzy woolly body! Looks like a piece of fur. 2 Dec 2006 9:54pm Angry Buddha from United StatesHe knows the average thickness of a wooly catepilar's coat in order to determine whether the coat is short or long. He's a smarter man than me. Anywho, great detail in this shot. 3 Dec 2006 3:34am seventhray from United StatesBuddha, living where we do there are so many wooly catipilars you just about trip over them and being interested in the furry little critters ya have a tendency to pick them up and look at them........many of them! It is not how long or short the fur is it is how thick or thin it is. And anybody that has eyes can tell if the fur is thick or thin! Thick coat......cold winter! Thin coat warm winter! See smarty pants! 4 Dec 2006 5:37pm |
